Prayer Cards for Comfort and Hope

Prayer cards

You might have spotted a series of 12 prayer cards that are now available in the Cathedral Welcome Area and at the main candle stand in the South Transept.

These prayer cards are designed to help visitors engage with the spiritual life of this Cathedral, and to provide some simple words to use in prayer. If you’ve never prayed before, don’t worry – these cards are designed to guide you, and anyone is welcome to use them and take them home. We hope that they will help you to find comfort and hope in a world of uncertainty.

The prayer cards that are available include:

  • Feeling hurt

  • Wanting guidance

  • Looking for God

  • Being thankful

  • Grieving

  • Worried about someone

  • Struggling with change

  • Feeling alone

  • Being accepted

  • Wanting forgiveness

  • Finding peace

  • Feeling sad or anxious

You'll find these prayer cards at the Welcome Area and in the South Transept

Booklets

If you would like to explore further, there are six booklets available which contain more in depth information. These booklets cover the following topics:

  • Is God real?

  • Am I good enough for God?

  • Is there something beyond death?

  • Where is my life going?

  • Why do so many bad things happen?

  • Will anything happen if I pray?

Please speak to the team at the main entrance of the Cathedral if you would like to read one of these booklets, and they will be able to help you.

'Explore' project website

These prayer cards and booklets form part of the new ‘Explore’ project, which has been shaped by people’s experiences of the global pandemic. There is a helpful website as part of this project, which can be found by clicking on the button below.
