The Cathedral continues to be open for individual private prayer. We invite you to pray, light a candle or just to spend some quiet time reflecting inside the Cathedral.

The Cathedral has stood as a beacon of hope for almost 1,000 years - we will get through this together. May God bless you and your loved ones at this time.

Opening Hours:

Monday - Saturday: 11.00am to 4.00pm.

Sunday 12noon - 4.00pm.

Please be aware that on some days there may be limited access to the Cathedral at certain times. Please check our daily calendar before visiting.

You are invited to join us for live-streamed services during this time, these include Sunday Eucharist,  Midweek Evensong and a Weekly Reflection. Please check our Services page for full details.

Members of the clergy will continue to hold daily services on behalf of the community, praying for you and our world. You can submit prayers which will be read out at our daily services by emailing

How we are keeping everyone safe:

To keep everyone safe we have protective measures in place. These include:

Providing hand sanitising stations on entry and throughout the Cathedral

Maintaining high standards of hygiene and increasing our regular cleaning patterns

Checking and recording the temperature of all front of house staff at the start of their shift

You must wear a mask inside the Cathedral, unless you have a health condition which prevents you from doing so.

Partially closing the toilets. One easy access toilet with a baby change table will remain open.

Keeping doors open throughout the building to maintain good airflow and to reduce contact surfaces

The Monk’s Kitchen is closed.

The Cathedral Gift Shop is closed.

If you feel unwell, please do not come to the Cathedral. Stay home and follow NHS guidelines.
