We welcome groups to the Cathedral. To make sure that your experience is enjoyable and that your visit runs smoothly, we operate a group bookings policy.
The busy nature of the Cathedral means that it is essential for every group to book at least three weeks in advance to secure a slot on the diary and to allow for guides to be scheduled if required. All of our guides are volunteers, so it is better to have as much notice as possible.
Once your group is booked in, Cathedral staff will be aware of the visit and any necessary preparation can be done ahead of the day. Booking in advance also offers the advantages of:
The charges for booked groups are as follows:
|Adults (self-guided visit)||£5.00|
|Adults (guided tour)||£7.00|
|Students aged 16 and over or in full time education (self-guided visit)||£4.00|
|Students aged 16 and over or in full time education (guided tour)||£6.00|
|Children under 16 (self-guided visit)||£3.00|
|Children under 16 (guided tour)||£5.00|
These prices include a FREE photography permit for each member of your group, worth £3 per permit.
There is no charge for group leaders or interpreters. We do have a small number of guides who can speak other languages, although our tours are predominantly in English. We recommend that you discuss any such requirements with our Visits Officer. As a guideline, we recommend one interpreter for every 10 visitors.
It is not normally possible to have group tours before 9.30am due to morning services.
All group bookings must be fully paid in advance and no later than 7 days before the visit date. Numbers attending cannot be changed any later than this 7 day period before the visit. No refunds will be given after this date. We accept payment by bank or BACS transfer or by cheque.
Once payment is received in full for the booking, we will issue a confirmation statement which the group must present to the Gift Shop (if you are a self-led group) or their allocated Guide (if you have booked a tour) on arrival.
Coach parking is not permitted in the Cathedral grounds.
However there is a coach drop off point very near by in Westgate Street near St Nicholas’ Church and the Dick Whittington public house. Please advise your driver not to drive in the pedestrianised part of Westgate Street.
Gloucester City Council operate a complimentary Meet and Greet Service offering free central and secure coach parking, meal and drink vouchers for coach drivers and up-to-date advice on visiting Gloucester. For more information and to book a space, please contact the dedicated coach booking team:
