On 23 and 24 December as we prepare for the 3.00pm Family Crib Service with Lighting of the Christmas Trees, from 2.15pm onwards the Cathedral will be open only for those attending this service.

Following the 3.00pm service the doors will be closed whilst we prepare for the more formal Christmas Carol service at 6.00pm. However, we ask that you arrive by 5.45pm. The doors will open at 5.00pm.

We anticipate that there will be large numbers of people attending these services. We will do all we can to accommodate everyone, however, to ensure everybody’s safety and in accordance with fire and emergency evacuation regulations, once the Cathedral is at capacity there will be no further admission to the service. We apologise for any disappointment that this may cause.

All are welcome to join us as we mark the beginning of the new Christian year with our annual Advent Carol Service by Candlelight, a dramatic and majestic service that, for many, is when the true countdown to Christmas begins.

On Saturday 7 December come and enjoy the beautiful sound of the Boy and Girl Choristers of Gloucester Cathedral joined by Emma Johnson, Internationally acclaimed solo clarinettist, chamber musician, recording artist and lecturer, to perform Songs of Celebration – A Christmas Concert.
