Mypower wins National Award

Solar project award win shines light on Cathedral project

Mypower has gained national recognition for the work by winning the Highly Commended title in the Project Award category at the coveted British Renewable Energy Awards at The Savoy Hotel, London.

Solar panel specialists Mypower saw its name in lights after winning a national award for its ground-breaking work at Gloucester Cathedral.

The 1,000-year-old landmark – location for three ‘Harry Potter’ films – became the oldest cathedral in the world to have a solar panel system on its roof after Cheltenham-based Mypower installed the hi-tech equipment last autumn.

The 150 solar panels fitted by Mypower will save the cathedral nearly £200,000 in energy costs over the next 25 years and generate enough energy to power seven semi-detached houses for a year.
