‘A Living Tapestry’

Gloucester Scriptorium is a group of playwrights who have created a piece of theatre by weaving together a series of stories that will be performed by professional actors in the spectacular surroundings of the Cathedral Quire.

‘Tapestry’ explores the question of what brings people into the cathedral. What are they seeking and what do they find? The writers have let their imaginations soar in response to the spectacular setting and the performance will be a living tapestry incorporating theatre, music and intriguing imagery as a procession of curious characters emerge to fill the space with thought-provoking tales about life’s challenges.

This project is supported using public funding through the Arts Council England.

About Gloucester Scriptorium:

Gloucester Scriptorium is a collective of local playwrights who have written and produced a number of plays that have been performed at venues across the country and as far away as New Zealand. Our first Arts Council funded project ‘Only in Gloucester’ saw three plays being performed in the Gloucester Life and City Museums using a large number of local theatre professionals. Our goal is to create innovative theatre experiences that showcase the best local talent, and to use intriguing spaces in the city of Gloucester to bring these to life.

More information about our other projects and about all of the writers con be found on our website
