GCS Concert: Elgar - The Dream of Gerontius

Elgar - The Dream of Gerontius

Gloucester Choral Society - Concert

Saturday 13 October 7.00pm

Enjoy Elgar’s masterpiece The Dream of Gerontius, considered by many to be his finest choral work, in the atmospheric setting of Gloucester Cathedral. A setting of the poem by John Henry Newman, the work tells the story in beautiful poetry and music of a soul’s journey through death, and is exquisitely moving.

Elgar himself wrote this quotation at the end of his original manuscript:

This is the best of me; for the rest, I ate, and drank, and slept, loved and hated, like another: my life was as the vapour and is not; but this I saw and knew; this, if anything of mine, is worth your memory.

Gloucester Choral Society performs this wonderful work under the baton of renowned choral director Adrian Partington in the beautiful location of Gloucester Cathedral.

Tickets: £25, £21, £18, £10 - Further details and booking at www.gloucesterchoral.com or from the Three Choirs Box Office 01452 768928
