All are welcome to join us as we mark the beginning of the new Christian year with our annual Advent Carol Service by Candlelight, a dramatic and majestic service that, for many, is when the true countdown to Christmas begins.

From Tuesday 28 November the beautiful 'Tea Angel', an exhibition by Suzanne Horne returns for a second year. The eight foot tall angel ismade from lovingly stitched teabags and was created as a response to the plight of Syrian refugees.

You will be seeing 'STARS' this Christmas and our younger visitors will be sure to have an exciting time with our Free children's trail - 'Cathedral Star Gazing'. Roaming around this spectacular building in search of angels is sure to dlight children of all ages.

This Christmas, Gloucester Cathedral will be inviting visitors to take part in its ‘Tree of Stars’ fundraising campaign.  From Sunday 3 December, wooden decorative stars will be available to purchase for £5, upon which a message or wish may be written before hanging the star on a dedicated tree within the Cathedral.

The stars will be available to take home in the new year as a special keepsake and all proceeds from the stars go towards maintaining the Cathedral for future generations.

Of course it just wouldn't be December without our hugely popular 'Carols on the Hour and Christmas Market'. Join us on Saturday 9 December to hear the Choirs of the Cathedral singing bite sized bursts of Festive praise and enjoy a spot of Christmas shopping at our Christmas Market in the beautiful surrounding of the Cathedral Cloisters. Don't forget to visit The Monk's Kitchen and Chapter House for some tasty Christmas treats too or our new Gift Shop for some beautiful gifts, cards, candles and more...

Due to popular demand 'Carols on the Hour' is repeated on Saturday 16 December sung by Adult Choirs.

Throughout December you can choose from numerous carol services, concerts, children and family activities or simply come and spend some quiet, reflective time with us. Whatever it is you want to do, you are warmly welcome to do so in your Cathedral.

All at Gloucester Cathedral wish you a Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year
