Restoration of the NE tower

THE FRIENDS OF GLOUCESTER CATHEDRAL is a lively and active organisation devoted solely to supporting the Christian mission and life of what John Betjeman described as the 'second most beautiful building in Europe'.

The fellowship of the Friends of Gloucester Cathedral is made up of many people of widely-varying talents and enthusiasms, and from a variety of backgrounds, but all with a very important interest in their lives – an abiding concern for ensuring the future well-being of this loveliest of buildings. But Gloucester Cathedral is more than just a beautiful building: it represents in stone and glass, in craftsmanship and administration, in art and in beautiful music, an indelible expression of the Christian faith. It is not just a monument to past achievement : it is far more than that.

It is also a statement, a vision, of present and future intent.

The Friends of Gloucester Cathedral make up an integral element within that vision. They are, by virtue of their membership, through subscriptions, continued interest, and participation in the wide range of events, part of a vital family- and through their membership, and all that it involves and implies, they form an essential cornerstone within a living Christian community.
