Flower Guild

Flower Festival

High Altar Flowers at Easter

The Flower Guild was founded in the late 1940s when two people did the flowers and each week there were two arrangements in the Cathedral. Now it consists of 60 members and we do eight arrangements each week.

We are a happy band of volunteers who enjoy beautifying the Cathedral for the Glory of God and the visitors.

The Flower Guild is run by a small committee of 8 people who take it in turns to be in charge of the weekly flower arranging operations which happens on Friday mornings except in Advent and Lent.  The majority of Guild members just enjoy arranging flowers but some of them are more professional and are members of a Flower Club or NAFAS.

We have three gatherings a year. One is an outing to an historic building or garden. We have tea in a members garden once a year and we hold a General Meeting when everyone can air their views on the running of the Guild and give us their suggestions.

We are always looking for new members so if you arrange flowers in your own home then that is enough experience for us. If you are interested in joining us please contact the Cathedral Office and they will put you in touch with the Flower Guild Chairman.
