Chorister Dads get on their bikes to raise funds.

On Saturday 7 August a group of 5 Chorister Dads completed a gruelling 96 mile round trip cycle ride to raise funds for the Gloucester Cathedral Choir Outreach and Tour Fund.

They visited all three Cathedrals taking part in the 283rd Three Choirs Festival and the Three Choirs Vineyard.

On the opening day of the Three Choirs Festival the intrepid Dads left Gloucester Cathedral on the first leg of their journey to Worcester Cathedral. While the Choristers were preparing for the opening service of the Festival the Dad’s safely arrived in Worcester where well deserved bacon butties were the order of the day.

The next leg took them to Hereford Cathedral. Beautiful countryside, changeable weather and a puncture saw them onwards to a wonderful welcome at the Three Choirs Vineyard. Family, friends and warm hospitality – disguised as a bottle of Three Choirs cider – provided a welcome stopping point and a very generous donation from the Three Choirs Vineyard was most gratefully received.

The final leg saw them arriving safely back at Gloucester Cathedral just as the first day of the Three Choirs Festival was drawing to a close.

Congratulations to Mike Conway, Douglas Winton, Ted Whichelo, Robin Hollands and Richard Vernon who are already looking forward to next year!

Chorister parents work tirelessly to raise funds in support of the outreach work of the Choir. If you would like to make a donation you can do so at Gloucester Cathedral Office.
